Crowdfunding News

Noteworthy New Projects

Micro Dungeons for DnD: A collection of small dungeons for 5e, by Guillermo Buenfil. So far this project has raised MX$22,000 ($1,100) from 1,000 backers. Ends August 11th

Given that I have to churn through piles of bloated, over-produced Kickstarter projects, I’m a big supporter of no-frills, practical campaigns doing well, so happy to see this one garnering a lot of support. A bunch of simple dungeon maps for $1 (or 20 pesos)? It’s a no-brainer. — James

5e

The Tiny Tome of Dragons: A small 5e sourcebook on dragons, by Xacur (Witchcraft: Magic of Hereva, a 5e Supplement, Dark Scrolls, an OSR/5e RPG Zine) — August 4th

Professor Gilroy’s Guide to Fey: A collection Celtic folklore-inspired fey creatures, by NevernotDM — August 16th

OSR & Retro

Scientific Barbarian No.4 and 2021 Annual: The 4th issue of a post-apocalyptic RPG magazine, by Jim Wampler (Check This Artifact, Fight This Mutant, Scientific Barbarian) — August 18th

Other & Generic Fantasy

RPG Maps Zine — Issue 1: A zine full of hand-drawn maps for fantasy RPGs, by Dark Realm Roleplay (The Bones of Kalkratha: An Adventure for DnD 5th Edition, 10 Dungeon Escape Room Battle Mats — RPG Maps) — August 3rd

European Folklore Bestiary: A bestiary for Chivalry & Sorcery, by Steve Turner, Brittannia Game Designs (Chivalry & Sorcery — the Medieval Role Playing Game, Land of the Rising Sun) — August 22nd

Investigation

Fedora Noir: An RPG in which one person plays a detective, and another person plays their hat, by Caroline Hobbs (Downfall) — August 11th

Hilarious concept. — Amy

Sci-Fi/Cyberpunk

a|state RPG second edition: A new edition of the dystopian scifi RPG, now using the Forged in the Dark system, by Jon Hodgson/Handiwork Games (Beowulf: Age of Heroes, Jon Hodgson Map Tiles, The Forest Dragon Card Game) — August 19th

In the UK at least, a|state and its then-publisher Contested Ground Studios had a small but dedicated fanbase in the mid-2000s. It is interesting to see it make a comeback in this way as a Forged in the Dark hack. As expected from publisher Handiwork Games, it looks great too. Definitely one I’ll be picking up. — James
